Why Choose a California State Licensed Contractor?
Did you know . . .
Licensed Contractors are required to carry a state bond, pass a background check, and pass the states trade and contract laws test.
Hiring an Unlicensed Contractor puts the consumer at risk as, the consumer is not protected by the State of California Contractors License Board, which provides no cost litigation and the consumer has very limited recourse to file a complaint or seek damages.
Unlicensed Contractors usually do not have workers compensation for their employees or substantial general liability insurance, which can quickly transfer all liability to the property owner should someone be injured or if property damage occurs during the course of work.
Contractors are required by law to put their license number on all advertisements. Unlicensed businesses or operators are required state “not state licensed” on all of their advertisements.
In California it is illegal for any Person or Organization to contract for or bid on any improvement project valued at more than $500.00, which includes Tree Service, Landscaping and most other skilled trades not directly associated with typical construction activities.

I had Charleston Tree Service at my home. I needed a company with a boom truck that could extend at least 55 feet. I wanted the tops of redwoods trimmed so I could have light. I also wanted the trees to keep bushing out to form a wall from the road. I asked that the trees be topped at a specific level and the sides trimmed to match the contour of the road. The job was PERFECT. I met the owner and crew at my home and they were on time as promised. A bid was sent to me prior to approving the job and with the estimate, I received a copy of his license and insurance. AMAZING. I work in insurance so this impressed me. I would strongly recommend Charleston Tree Service to you.

Charleston Tree Services is a family owned and run business, founded by Graham and Amber Charleston six years ago and serving all of Humboldt County. They do everything from emergency large tree removal to field mowing and planting and brush chipping.
